a. Those who speak UP against a loved one or friend, even if to protect themself or someone else, have taken on a tremendous burden that can be life changing. Sometimes called familial whistle blowers, those who speak UP are victims because of the crime the person they love committed, or is about to commit. They are burdened with having to speak Up to prevent the pain of another human being.

b. Many who speak UP suffer from guilt and are sometimes ostracized from family and friends and need counseling support and assistance to get through this difficult time. Prevent the Pain will assist with copays for professional counseling services and / or full session payments if no insurance is available. Referrals can be made to a licensed professional counselor if requested.

a. Many who Speak UP need someone to talk to who has lived through similar circumstances and understands the turmoil they are going through.

b. Having someone to talk to who has already lived through a similar experience provides support from someone who understands the soul searching and dynamics that go into reporting on someone you love and care for knowing they will suffer consequence based on your report. We will do what we can to try and link you with another individual who has also had to make a similar report and build these connections. If 

a. In many cases those who speak UP are targeted as if they are just as guilty by association or in other cases targeted and labeled as disloyal, tattle tale, whistle blower or even snitch although they reported a crime, or a potential crime that has or would cause harm to another human being. Because of their integrity to do the right thing and make a report some have lost financial support, employment wages, and business owners have even lost their businesses as previous consumers misjudge them for making the report and refuse to patron their establishments any longer.

b. After making a report many suffer the judgement of being thought of as someone that cannot be trusted with anything or anyone even though the report made was to save others from harm or more harm. Because of this thought process many of these individuals are not provided with new opportunities to excel their careers, or be able to establish new career paths because of the past that they are linked to for making the report.

a. This risk of harm can be physical and or mental. When first speaking out many of those close to the person making the report to prevent the pain of others are ridiculed, ostracized, and threatened. It is not uncommon for hate mail to be received and personal threats to be made to this individual as they themselves are still recovering and struggling with the decision they made to prevent the harm of their loved one or friend from harming themselves or others.

b. When in the midst of this chaos and waves of emotions, especially soon after the report is made, the individual who made the report may need to get away to have time to focus and adjust to the new life this life changing event has caused, and the possible loss of friends, and loved ones because of their decision. We know in the end this individual will be in a better place with the knowledge and confidence in their own integrity and moral obligations but during this transition there is a lot of doubt, potential loss, and insecurity that will require a new space away from negative surroundings that feed the doubt and attempts to prevent their ability to grow and be a better person in making their decision to speak UP and speak OUT to save others from suffering unnecessary pain.
